Description : Ancient Egypt, Early Dynastic Period, 1st to 2nd Dynasty, ca. 3150 to 2686 BCE. An elegant hand-built terracotta vessel with a petite circular base, a wide body with a rounded shoulder, a raised rim, and four pierced lug handles for suspension. Around the shoulder is a band of notched grooves set above a lightly-incised ring. The buffware surface is coated in a thin layer of iron-oxide slip which imbues the vessel with its red hue. Size: 5.125 W x 2.875 H (13 cm x 7.3 cm).
