Description : Absolutely exquisite Egyptian necklace (acq. 1906 Egypt, Dubois, exhibited museums: Met NY 1920, Boston 1945, MoM CA 1968) with carnelian/agate amulets:11 heart & 8 djeds, all unique of varying hues & sizes (1/2 - 1 1/4) and the central heart pendant is the darkest in color measuring 1x 3/4(3cmx1.5cm) strung together with 30 biconical carnelian beads. A newer clasp at each end.

Size : 16 long 41 cm (approx)
Provenance : Mr. & Mrs. Goddard Dubois. Acquired Egypt 1900-06.
Notes : Djed was the spine of Osiris representing stability, but the heart was the most important amulet where Egyptians believed all intelligence & memory lie, tantamount for the reckoning of all deeds of the deceased. (Mrs. Dubois handwritten notes 1906 lists finds of 4 carnelian 'tats' djeds finely cut 18th Dynasty from ancient city site of Bubastis).
Condition report : Excellent, except central large heart pendant has chip at top by loop with superficial crack otherwise no other chips, cracks, repairs evident. All intact.
