Description : AFRICAN TRIBAL ART, CARVED WOOD MASK AND WOVEN BASKET - Ritual/dance mask, brown patina with traces of white kaolin, bulgy eyes, straight nose with appearance of nostrils and small slit mouth. Drilled holes on lower face for attachment of raffia or other material. Likely a Lega mask from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. 8.5H x 6.5W. Upright, oblong basket woven from dyed plant material in alternating dark/light diamond pattern. Only practical for carrying light weight items.13.5H x 8diameter. Both mask and basket are unmarked, condition as seen and 20th century.
