Provenance : Provenance: Property from the Artist's Estate Zeinab Abd al-Hamid was a pioneering Egyptian artist and one of Egypt's most renowned female artists. Born in 1919, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cairo and later became a professor of painting at the same institution. Zeinab Abdel Hamid was also granted a scholarship in 1950 from the Egyptian Government to study painting at the Escuela Central de Bellas Artes San Fernando in Madrid. Her cityscape paintings captivate her unique vision and mastery of vibrant colour and form. Zeinab's work is seen to be influenced by ancient Egyptian Art, Mythology and local urban culture.
