Ruby Onyinyechi Amanze is a Nigerian-born British-American artist, born in 1982, recognized for her innovative drawings and works on paper that explore themes of cultural hybridity and post-colonial non-nationalism. She earned her B.F.A. summa cum laude from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia in 2004, followed by an M.F.A. from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
Amanze's artistic practice has garnered international attention, with multiple solo exhibitions showcasing her unique style, including "there are even moonbeams we can unfold" and "Salt Water." Her work reflects a deep engagement with identity and cultural dialogue, earning her prestigious awards such as the Fulbright Fellowship in 2012 and a Fulbright Scholars Award for Teaching/Research in Nigeria in 2013. Currently, she resides and works in Brooklyn, New York.
