Description : Details: These vintage, hand-carved wooden masks and beaded collar were part of a collection of folk art and artifacts assembled by a teacher who traveled in east Africa in the 1950s and 1960s. The collar is typical of those made by the Masai of Kenya, and is 7 in diameter and 27 long. The larger mask may have been carved from ebony or another dark, heavy, dense wood. It is 12.5 long and 6 wide. The other mask is 10 long and 4.5 wide, with a detailed headdress and ivory chips for teeth.
