Description : African Mask (Mukenga) Kuba Tribe, Western Kasai region. From the top is a long projection, representing an elephant's trunk. The Mukyeem or Mukenga masks are part of a suite of royal masks common to the various subgroups of the Kuba, and characterized by extensive cowrie shell and beadwork ornamentation, with raffia and animal pelt. Dimensions are approximately 19 x 15 x 19 and weight is about 5 lbs.
