Description : Three Roman mosaic glass fragments of architectural plaques or tiles Egypt, circa late 2nd Century B. C - 1st Century A.D. Each fragment of translucent greyish-blue with Nilotic plants, the largest of irregular rectangular form, one side showing opaque red and yellow thistle or tulip-like heads with yellow stems and streaked red leaves white daisy's or narcissi with yellow centres, yellow and white flowers and yellow and white tall plinths, set within a later gold mount, 2 x 1.5in. 5 x 3.7cm , a small fragment showing part of an opaque red and yellow thistle or tulip-like head, part of an opaque yellow and green flower and leaves, with an opaque white daisy or narcissus with an opaque red and yellow centre, 1.25in. 3.2cm and another small fragment with two opaque white daisy's or narcissi with opaque red and yellow centres, parts of other foliage surround, 1. 5in.
