Description : THREE AFRICAN COLLECTIBLES: from Nigeria, two Yoruba Ibeji figures, hand carved wood, used for the promotion and propagation of twin babies, male and female figures. Height 10. c. 1910. N.B. Purchased at Butterfield's in March, 1972, at their African Primitive Art collection of a West African Princess sale, lot 850B. Together with a Kenyan pangan (knife) used in the Mau Mau uprising (the Kikuyu tribe) of the early 1950's. In hand made leather sheath, length of knife, 22.
