This is the rating and price for Pair Of African Style Carved Wenge Wood Figures

Description : This pair of two wenge wood carvings are executed in the rough, primitive style associated with African art, though it is likely that these two objects originated in the United States. The exaggerated long faces, rough tooling marks, and unfinished surface add to the folk art quality of these pieces. The female figure wears a straight skirt with exposed breasts and carries a basket with one hand atop her head. The male figure lifts his long skirt as he steps forward with his right foot. Both are sensitively carved with soulful, dignified expressions. The figures are 19 high and 4 wide. All measurements are approximate. The female figure has a crack on the bottom that has been glued and has minor scuffing at the top which has left a few white marks, but otherwise they are in good condition. From a Virginia Estate.
