Description : **Originally Listed At $200** Central Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Luba peoples, West Africa, Ghana, Asante (also Ashanti) peoples, ca. first half of the 20th century CE. A fine gathering of 2 carved wooden items from two distinct African cultures. First is a Luba wooden Janiform figure with two faces, a single neck, and a mutual body. Second is an Asante wooden headrest with a rectangular base, a circular body with a central vertical pole, and a concave resting platform. Size of largest (headrest): 8 W x 7 H (20.3 cm x 17.8 cm). Provenance: Estate of R. Condition report : Figure has losses to one side of body and base, with softening to finer details, and stable fissures. Headrest has small chips and fissures to base and light insect damage, otherwise intact and very good. Both items have light earthen deposits and fine patina throughout.
