Description : Property from the Estate of David Rapkin Description: Group of 5 African Wood, Copper and Bone Articles, comprising a divination instrument with a woman's head and window base, wood, probably Luba (6 3/4 in., some minor age cracks and small natural loss to wood), another carved wood divination instrument, probably Kuba (12 7/8 in., light wear to surface), a carved wood pipe with copper accents and stem, probably Luba (11 1/2 in., some pitting and oxidation to metal, small age cracks in wood), a Kuba cup (6 1/2 in., light wear, age crack from base near handle), Democratic Republic of the Congo. Provenance of the above: Exhibited African Art in Unlikely Places: The David Rapkin Collection, University of Nebraska, Eisentrager-Howard Gallery, 2012, and carved bone with stem (10 3/8 in., pitting to stem, cracks and losses).
