Description : 2nd-1st century BC. A gold miniature figure of Eros standing nude with wings spread to the rear, feet on a rectangular panel with socket to the underside, attachment loop between the shoulders, right forefinger raised to the lips in the manner of Harpocrates. See Andrews, C. Amulets of Ancient Egypt, London, 1994 for discussion of Harpokrates in Egyptian and later in Greek culture. 2.99 grams, 20mm (3/4). Property of a European gentleman, formerly in a German private collection formed in the 1950-1970s. []
