Description : Western Europe, The Netherlands, Germany, or Venice, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A collection of 35 glass trade beads strung in modern times on a cotton cord. The beads are large spherical and tubular shapes in hues of cobalt, amber, opaque white, semi-translucent white, black, pale pink, and light yellow. The beads could be worn as is or restrung as once desired- a single bead is large enough to be fine statement pendant on a chain! Trade beads played a major role in the age of European exploration and colonization, serving as currency on multiple continents. These beads were likely used in Africa amongst the Dogon people of Mali.
