Title : Egyptian Limestone Stele Roman Period, Circa 1St-2Nd Century A.D.
Provenance : Provenance: UK private collection, John Brian. Found in a house in Kibworth, Leicestershire, where it had been left in situ since before 1920. The house was previously owned after the First World War until the mid- 1960s by an army officer who had served in Egypt and Palestine. Literature: For a similar stele in the British Museum depicting a boy, cf. S. Walker, Ancient Faces: Mummy Portraits from Roman Egypt, London, 2000, p. 142, no.94.
