Description : THIRTEEN EGYPTIAN HARDSTONE AMULETIC PENDANTS First Intermediate Period to Third Intermediate Period, circa 2181-702 B.C. Including a janiform amulet of Pataikos, three pendants in the shape of a male bold deity, a snake's head, an Nubian head, an amulet of Harpocrates, a fish, a couchant lion and a lion's head and forepart amulet, and two standing deities, 11mm-25mm long (13) Provenance: Horatio and Patsy Melas Collection, Alexandria, Egypt, acquired before 1967. Thence by descent, moved to Switzerland and London. Literature: for another example of lion's head and forepart amulet, cf. C. Andrews, Amulets of Ancient Egypt, London, 1994, pl. 4b.
