Smaller statues or miniatures would most often be created for the average person who did not have special status in the community. This, being a large piece was more likely created for someone who was of higher status or importance. The woven wrapping makes this piece even more unique in its use and presentation. Provenance:, These pieces were collected over a period of several decades out of collections from America and throughout Europe, including France, Germany, Belgium and Amsterdam beginning in the early 1960s.
