Description : Chokwe masks, hand carved out of solid wood, bear distinctive stylistic elements. The masks represent human heads and have slit eyes, sharp noses and broad lips. In the past some masks played important roles in religious beliefs and institutional practices, and many other Chokwe masks have come to be used primarily for entertainment. The Chokwe people currently reside in Angola, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Condition good with crack above eye going across top of head, round repair above other eye and crack repair on chin / jaw.
