Description : AFRICAN TRIBAL ART: CARVED WOOD FANG MASK - (Gabon, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea) Applied white clay suggests this large mask was linked with the dead and ancestor worship. Striking elongated form, facial scarification, bulbous forehead and long vertical nose, suggest this mask was intended for use by secret society members when hunting and punishing sorcerers. Raffia cord small holes either side. Condition good, minor wood loss on lip. Late 19th, early 20th century. 19.5H x 10.5W
