Description : Wood with dark black encrusted patina of ancient and ritual use Cameroon Grasslands, 19th century Bamileke people Mask in the shape of a buffalo head, crowned by long, curved horns with geometric decoration Oval eyes flanking an open mouth with visible teeth and nostrils With a metal base Height of the mask: c. 67 cm Good, age related condition Provenance: Ex. Galerie Van Alom, Antwerpen / BerlinLiterature:Tom Phillips, Africa, the art of a continent, the exhibition catalog. Munich 1996, p. 354-355 and Dr. Schädler, Karl-Ferdinand in German Private Collections African Art, Munich 1973, p 278. Condition: The mask is in good, age related condition with usual signs of wear.
