Description : * AN EGYPTIAN LIMESTONE RELIEF FRAGMENT OF
AMENHOTEP I
NEW KINGDOM, EARLY 18TH DYNASTY, CIRCA 1500 B.C.
Depicting in raised relief, the profile head of the king, the large left eye
with extended cosmetic line, wearing the Crown of Lower Egypt with
a uraeus, the king receiving ‘life’ from a deity, through the fragmentary
ankh sign which the god is holding under the king’s nose, 16cm x 18.5cm
Provenance:
American private collection, Oregon, acquired between the 1940s and 1960s, thence by descent.
