Provenance : Provenance: Swiss private collection, acquired circa 1966. With Khawam Brothers, Cairo, Egypt, circa 1940. Literature: Nekhbet the vulture goddess was the patron of Upper Egypt, often in association with Horus as in this particular relief. The shen ring represented eternity and Nekhbet was the protector of the king, of royal children, and in later periods, of all young children and expectant mothers. For further discussion, see R.H.
