This is the rating and price for African Wooden Mask, 2015.0

Description : West Africa, Nigeria, Ibibio, ca. mid 20th century CE. A carved wooden illness mask with openwork eyes for the wearer, an upturned nose, full lips and a jutting chin. The pinkish / reddish coloration identifies it as a mask for healing. Bite stick is threaded through periphery holes and visible on the inside, which is somewhat unusual. Size: 5.25 W x 8.75 H (13.3 cm x 22.2 cm) According to Traditional African Art: An Illustrated Study such masks incarnate ancestors that transmit authority to help the diviner diagnose and heal illness. In many cases these ailments are believed to come from witches. The identity of a divination mask for healing is underscored by the presence on its surface of a red pigment, camwood.
