Description : AFRICAN TRIBAL ART: DOUBLE NKISI NAIL FETISH/POWER FIGURE - Kongo peoples, DR Congo. Carved wood figure with two heads and one body/trunk, covered with inserted nails and blades, protruding abdomen, isinglass eye coverings and dabs of paint. A Nkisi is regarded as a vessel for a spirit from the dead with power to heal, protect or punish. Condition good, some shrinkage and cracks commensurate with age. Late 19th/Early 20th century. 19.5H
