This is the rating and price for African Igbo Maiden Spirit Mask Agbogho Mmwo

Description : The Igbo use thousands of masks, which incarnate unspecified spirits or the dead, forming a vast community of souls. The outstanding characteristic of the many Igbo masks is that they are painted chalk white, the color of the spirit. The best known among them are the so-called Maiden Spirit masks (Agbogho mmwo) which are danced by men at agricultural festivals and funerals of prominent members of the village. Topped by simple to elaborate coiffures, these masks are said to represent the beauty and purity of deceased maidens. Condition very good, light surface scuff marks and two small scratches as expected. Second half 20th. C. H. 14'' W. 8'' D. 6''.
