Description : [ Antiquities ] A Steatite Figure Of Amun-Min Roman Period Circa 1 St Century A.D. standing and holding his phallus now missing in the left hand and a flail in his fragmentary right hand and wearing pendants beaded collar armlets bracelets and fragmentary crown with mortise for insertion of the plumes his face with eyes eyebrows and cosmetic lines in relief. Height 19.1cm Provenance Kevorklan Foundation (Parke-Bernet Galleries New York December 18th 1970 no. 54 illus. Erie de Kolb Newyork Min was originally worshipped as the local god at Akhmin (Panopoils) and Coptos in Upper Egypt. he was later revered as a god of fertility and closely associated with Amun with whom the Greeks identified him.
