Description : Details: This lot consists of the antique hand-colored engraved plates shown in the corresponding images. Included in this lot are two plates (LXXXVIII and XXXVII) excised from I monumenti dell'Egitto e della Nubia disegnati dalla spedizione scientifico-letteraria toscana in Egitto, distribuiti in ordine di materie interpretati ed illustrati dal dottore Ippolito Rosellini (published between 1832 and 1844). Depicted in these vibrantly colored plates are various food commodities of ancient Egypt, including birds, grains, and grapes. Plate XXXVII depicts men in what appears to be the process of wine-making, from harvest to bottling. These plates are from the holdings of Archaeologia Books and Prints. Established in 1983, Archaeologia was known for providing scholarly books of quality on the archaeology of Ancient Egypt, the Near East, Greece & Rome, and the Pre-Columbian Americas.
