A Private Collection of Egyptian and Graeco-Roman Antiquities; Christie's, London, 29 October 2003, lot 180 (part).
with Rupert Wace Ancient Art Ltd., London.
Property from a Princely Collection, acquired from the above. Condition report : There is a stress crack on the flat inside that runs from the bracelet to the thumb, this has been created by non-active insect damage, and the crack does not appear to extend through to the outer side of the hand. There is a related hole and chip to the cuff. There is overall surface wear including pitting, chipping and scratching. There are some chips to the finger tips.
The hole at the base appears to have been made in ancient times, likely so the hand could act as a swivel lid on a cosmetic box.
