- He claims that the beauty of the natural landscape developed an appreciation for the aesthetic from an early age
- In his 20s, Samson joined an artist collective in Cape Town, Isibane
- This was formative in developing his professional career, offering support, resources and materials
- He spent four years honing his skills under the guidance of the collective
- Devotion to his craft still underpins his practice
- He keeps a house as a 'formality', but spends most of his time in the studio
- His quest for virtuosity is driven by his desire to provide homegrown inspiration for Africa's next generation of artists:
