Description : African art. Zaramo, Tanzania. Fertility doll. Hardwood with dark patina. Small visible flaws and signs of use. This interesting fertility doll carved and used by the Zaramos in the eastern part of Africa, just like the other fertility dolls in use in the western part, also shows the criteria of femininity clearly expressed in a concise and essential manner. The front of the female figure is marked by the three hemispherical reliefs representing navel and breasts. The head divided into two ridges that were adorned with real hair passing through the three holes, is provided with a face with eyes, mouth and a small scarification: three small holes and a vertical line. Finally, the beautiful brown patina is sprinkled with innumerable marks that testify to its intense use in thousands of hours-play. Cm 5,50 x 15,00 x 5,50.
