Description : Democratic Republic of the Congo Cf. Schildkrout, E. and Keim, C.A., African Reflections Art from Northeastern Zaire, New York, 1990, p.224, 11.8 and 11.9 for similar figures in the British Museum, from Yambio, a Zande chiefdom. The authors state that little is known about the artists who carved these figures or the purpose for which they were made. It is possible they were made by Balanda artists who sought sanctuary in the court of the Zande king Gbudwe at Yambio.
