Description : Werlhof Opera Medica Book: Hannover: Fratum Helwingiorm, 1775. Hardcover. Scarce. This is a compilation of the written medical works of Paul Gottlieb Werlhof (1699-1767), a well-known and influential doctor throughout Europe in his time. In 1735 he presented the first description of a bleeding disorder now often referred to as Werlhof’s disease. As was his custom, Werlhof wrote medical texts in Latin. The book is four separate works bound in one volume. There is also a section by Werlhof's colleague J.E. Wichmann titled In Memorium. Bound in contemporary brown three quarter leather with marble paper. The spine has five raised bands with gilt ornament to three compartments and cream author/title label to fourth. The leather has chipped and rubbed away but it is still a handsome book. Text block is tight and pages are generally clean with some offsetting to text. Two bookplates of Dr. A.
