Description : A PAPUA NEW GUINEAN WAR SHIELD, VAYOLA MASSIM PEOPLE, MILNE BAY PROVINCE, 19TH CENTURY Of tapered ovoid form, carved from solid wood, decorated with designs in black charcoal, white lime and red ochre pigments, the reverse with twin handles. 73.5cm high, 37.5cm wide PROVENANCE: UK art market.
