Imposing dark patina wooden mask with canvas inserts and heterogeneous materials possibly depicting Landai, ancestral spirit of the woods invoked during initiation rites. The animal-like face is characterized by the numerous horns and the magic bag fixed at the forehead and filled with apotropaic materials. Provenance: Parisian collection of the painter Arturo Carmassi (Lucca, 1925- Empoli, 2015).. Cm 37,00 x 91,00.
