Modern. Size: 18-1/2L.
Heavy brass and iron prestige object, the finial is a cast hollow head of spherical form having a vertical crest adorned with chevrons and border of small balls. Large concave ears on sides of head, tiny perforated eyeholes, long sculptural nose and a circular open mouth that would have held a projecting iron blade. The long central staff is iron. The opposing base finial is covered with chevrons and splays out at edges with openwork border and suspension loop. Areas of the brass patina are iridescent. This item was vetted out of our Fine Tribal Art auction.
