This is the rating and price for Stone Hand Axe, 1960

Description : North Africa, Sahara, Neolithic, Late Stone Age, ca. 10,000 BCE. A fabulous hand-knapped stone tool that is intact with a lustrous and delightfully tactile surface that was crafted by ancient hunter-gatherers who inhabited the Sahara when it was a hospitable savannah climate! This is a bifacial blade, flaked to a convex profile on both sides and rounded tips - one end is slightly straighter and likely forms the cutting edge. The tool is perhaps a handheld axe but could attach to a wooden handle with a cord. This piece would have served a variety of functions, such as cutting, scraping hides, and digging. This is a wonderful reminder of humankind's modest technological beginnings! Size: 5 L x 2.25 W (12.7 cm x 5.7 cm) Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection, ex-M.
