Description : [ Share Certificates ] Matabeleland Goldfields etc (Five Share Certificates in theis Group) (i) The Goldfields of Matabeleland Limited - 1897. A famous Company that had Dr. Rutherford Harris and Isaac Lewis (of Lewis and Marks fame) among its Directors. The Company owned 2500 gold mining claims in Matabeleland together with important shareholdings in South African properties. (ii) The Shamva Mines Limited (1919 Cert). This very colourful Share Certificate is one of the most famous and successful Pioneer Rhodesian Gold Mines and is signed by the famous pioneer figure, Walter Forbes. Impressed Company Seal. The Shamva is still operating. (iii) The Seluke Development Syndicate Limited-1895. The Company owned a very large number of claims on the Tebekwe Reef in Selukwe District of Matabeleland, 120 miles north east of Bulawayo. In the name of Harry Mosenthal, with impressed Company Seal. (iv) The Matabele Gold- Alluvial Syndicate Limited - 1894. This Company owned large blocks of claims not only in Matabeleland but also in Mashonaland, As its name indicates it had alluvial gold mining rights in various important areas of Rhodesia.
