Description : A group of 3 Roman/Cypriot terracotta column shaped pieces, c. 4th Century BC - 3rd Century AD. The first with spiral carving going around but otherwise undetailed, H: 10.1 cm. Broken off about half way up. The second is shapely but little detail besides some incising, H: 9.9 cm. The third with a stacked base and carvings sectioned off. The lower section has a satyr carved into it, the second section carved but difficult to make out, and then broken off from there, H: 15.1 cm. Two of the columns with lables indicating from Cyprus. Ex property from the collection of Joseph Klein (1899-1987), New York City. Mr. Klein sought out and acquired these souvenirs as part of his vast collecting interests. Said to have collected in the manner of an 18th century connoisseur, his overall collection showcased his diverse array of artifacts acquired over a period of 45 years and included the art of ancient China, Egypt, Persia, Greece and Rome.
