Description : The lot includes an early 20th century hand-carved moon mask made by Baule peoples, Ivory Coast. The face is oval and domed, features narrow oblong slits for the eyes and a small mouth, surrounded by a flat rim of triangular rays. These masks make their appearance at the beginning of the grand mask dances of the Baule people. And a Punu peoples mask depicting a narrow white face painted white with kaolin clay, with full lips, protruding ears and high massive hair.
