Description : African art. Nkisi sculpture, Songye D.R. Congo. Sculpture in wood and other materials, common among Songye magicians and diviners. Designed as a sort of spiritual shell for magical forces to be used in multiple and different situation. The figure with the hands placed on the belly on which inserts of other material have been affixed with magical function. On the head there is a large ox horn.
