Akeredolu The kings as seated tribal chiefs wearing turbans and holding staffs, the queens with elaborate hairstyles, the bishops as tribal elders, the knights holding rifles, the rooks as thatched huts and the pawns as seated tribesmen King is 9.3cm and Pawn 4.5cm high Artist: J.D Akeredolu (Nigeria/Owo, b.1915-) a renowned wood sculptor who studied at the Owo Govenment School where, while maintaining a personal studio, he subsequently taught.
