This is the rating and price for Ngeende Beaded Raffia Headdress Mask, 1965

Description : Central Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kuba peoples, Ngeende subgroup, ca. early to mid 20th century. A beaded helmet mask created with a multilayered burlap-lined conical basket frame, bushy raffia fiber tassel hem, and intricate bead and shell appliques. This is an interpretation of the type known as a Mukenga or Mukenge, intended to symbolize the legendary ruler known as Woot, represented by the abstract face at the front: a carved wooden nose, beaded arched brows over cowrie shell eyes, and linear scarification or tattoo beading on the cheeks. The main characteristic of this ceremonial headdress is the elephantine trunk with two beaded panel tusks emerging from the top of the conical head to indicate strength and leadership.
