Outstretched arms with elbows down and hands out and legs akimbo
The elongated neck surmounted by a small head with a central crested coiffure
The lower torso and neck wrapped with strands of colorful beads
Rich glossy honey brown patina of use

Provenance: ex-collection Carl and Wilma Zabel, Fort Lee, New Jersey, USA
Unadorned dolls of this type were used as toys by young girls. Adored with beads, bells and coins however, they served as surrogate children for infertile women, who fed and carried them around like real infants.
