He is mainly known for his works in the Egyptian Museum of Cairo, above all the compilation of a register of artifacts belonging of the museum. [Courtesy Wikipedia], Somers Clarke - George Somers Clarke (1841–1926) was an architect and English Egyptologist who worked at a number of sites throughout Egypt, notably in El Kab, where he built a house. He was born in Brighton. As an architect he worked in partnership with John Thomas Micklethwaite from offices at 15 Dean's Yard, Westminster, London. After his retirement Clarke continued to live in Egypt and died in Mahamid in August 1926. The vintage volume is bound in green cloth covers, with stamped gilt lettering/ornamentation to the front cover and spine cover. The exterior shows rubbing and fraying along the spine cover, and fading concentrated at the extremities. The binding is sound. The pages show mild age toning and scattered light foxing. There is a small brown smudge at the lower outer edge of page 225, continuing through the end of the book. This work is illustrated with numerous textual figures and plates.
