Description : Mask mulwalwa Bushoong/Kete, D. R. Kongo wood, polychrome paint, helmet-shaped, dominated by big conical-shaped protruding eyes, pierced around the rim, painted with a tribe-typical pattern, a voluminous plunt fibre cuff at the lower rim, min. dam., signs of abrasion, small missing parts, mulwalwa masks are produced by the southern Bushoong and the northern Kete peoples and represent a male ngesh or nature spirit associated with initiation of young men to manhood.
