Description : African art. Loma/Kiissi/Mende, Guinea/SierraLeone/Liberia. Guinzè iron coin. Machined with concave ferrule. Visible flaws and signs of use. Widespread in much of West Africa as far as Nigeria, this triangular-shaped coin was made of forged and wrought iron with a twisted shank and concave tip. In 1910 with a silver coin of 5 French Francs one could buy about 50 or 60 Guinzé weighing about 8 kilograms, but a wedding could cost as much as 2500/3000 Guinzé. Cm 20,00 x 72,00 x 0,50.
