Description : **Originally Listed At $500** Central Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kuba peoples, ca. 1950 CE. A forged iron sword made to be used as currency, also known as a prestige blade. The long blade widens towards its guard, with a diamond-shaped upper portion and long, diagonal incisions along one side. A bow-shaped wooden handle with a wrapped wicker grip completes the weapon. Size: 4.9 W x 34.5 H (12.4 cm x 87.6 cm) Provenance: private Houston, Texas, USA collection, purchased in 2006 from Hemingway Gallery, New York, New York, USA All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
