This is the rating and price for Hehe Beaded Doll Tanzania, second half 20th ce

Description : A superbdoll standing with arms represented by strands of beads, , ,wearing a chignon made of  ,beads and the body is covered with strands of beads ending with cowrie shells. , This doll comes from the Hehe. The Hehe style is recognized here by the concave face with eyes encrusted with beads. Dolls like this were used in the ritual of fertility. Young girls used to play with dolls like this one. They were said to possess the power to insure the fertility of these girls after their marriage. Tanzanian tribal art is less researched and published than Western and Central art. There are still superb pieces coming out of rural areas. We spent five weeks last summer on a buying trip, and brought home a number of exceptional pieces. The best resource on Tanzanian art is Marc Felix's MWANA Hiti.Recommended Reading: ,Elisabeth L. Cameron, ISN'T S/She A DOLL? PLay AND RITUAL IN AFRICAN SCULPTURE Marc Felix, MWANA HITI  ,
