Description : Egypt, 18th to 25th Dynasty, Ca 1550 to 657 BCE. Very fine steatite scarab covered in green glaze. Typical beetle form protective amulet, base carved with image of Ptah holding a staff, 15mm long. Provenance: Ex Philip Mitry collection. Mitry was a large antiquities dealer in Cairo in the 1940's and 50's , moving to Los Angeles in the mid 1950's with his massive collection.
