Description : **Originally Listed At $400** Western Europe, Germany, ca. mid-19th century CE. A forged-steel short sword with an elegant presentation. The sheath is comprised of a thin wooden interior lining with red felt padding near the opening, an iron hand grip with a small suspension loop, and all wrapped in thick black-painted paper. The handle is rectangular in form with alternating panels of iron and carved African ivory capped with a small iron pommel, and below rests an openwork ovoid guard. The steel blade exhibits a thick spine, sharpened edges, an extremely sharp tip, and incised scrollwork including a dog chasing a boar near the top. A beautiful example! Size: 28.75 L x 4.25 W (73 cm x 10.8 cm), size of blade: 23 L (58.4 cm).
